LESSONS & PRICING

Our individual driving lessons #1-6 are equally priced and are approximately 2 hours in length. You are welcome to pay for each of the driving lessons as you take them, or choose the Mini Bundle or Bundle Pricing rate. Our curriculum is designed so that each lesson builds upon the previous, thus increasing the students skill level with each lesson. Our driving instructors are experts in teaching Defensive Driving Skills, which are taught and applied throughout all of the lessons.

Initial Assessment

This driving lesson is required for all Permit Drivers prior to other lessons. Students will be instructed on understanding basic rules of the road, vital safety considerations, vehicle controls and functions, as well as safe driver seat positioning and vehicle mirrors. It is important for the instructor to understand the individual students current skill level, which will be determined in a driving skills assessment, followed by driving instructor recommendations.

Suburban Roadways (Night Driving Optional)

This lesson can take place during daytime hours, however it also offers an opportunity for night driving experience. Students will practice driving on various types of roadways throughout the county.  Focus will be placed on performing lane changes, right-of-way intersections & defensive driving skills.  At night, the student will learn & apply the proper function/timing of headlights & high beams.  They will be shown obstructions to vision during low light conditions, & how to drive safely during this time of day.

Highways

Although many new drivers are anxious about highway driving, our methods teach valuable skills which instill confidence in the students. Your driving instructor will cover: Local highway configurations, using entrance and exit ramps, highway driving/lane changes, lane usage, signage and markings on highways, defensive driving skills during normal traffic flow we well as during congestion, and highway interchanges.

Curvy/Hilly Roads & Evasive Maneuvers

Students will learn skills to recover safely during a vehicle malfunction, challenging roadway conditions, or obstruction. They will learn the function of the Anti-Lock Braking System, followed by an exercise to engage the ABS system. This provides student with a full understanding of the function and feeling associated, as well as a practical understanding of the importance of proper following distance. They will then learn and apply the proper driving method when negotiating curvy/ hilly roadways while driving local Saint Charles County roadways.

Parking

One out of every five crashes occur on parking lots. Students will be instructed on safe procedures for parking various settings and conditions. They will be instructed on proper parking in lined spaces, parallel parking, and backing in a straight line without using their mirrors/camera. Our method of instructing parallel parking takes the “guess work” out and provides a precise method for new drivers to succeed on this often dreaded portion of the drivers exam.

Test Prep

Students will experience the specific elements of the MSHP Driver Exam. They will negotiate the roadways and perform the various tasks required on the Exam. This provides the student the opportunity for the instructor to “fine tune” any elements which may present an obstacle to the students success on Exam Day!

Test Prep ONLY

This option is for students who have attempted to take the MSHP Driver Exam and failed the test without taking lessons. Parents feel the student is a proficient driver, however they are struggling with specific elements of the test. Students will be instructed as they drive the test route and perform the various elements required. This will prepare them to take the exam with confidence! (Approximately 3 hours in length)

**Instructor has discretion to modify lessons if unsafe/inadequate skils

Licensed Driver Refresher/Assessment

This option is for the licensed teen driver who has had one or more “incidents” while driving (crash or close call). We will discuss the incidents which have occurred, and perform a road skills assessment with instruction to identify and correct improper driving methods. If additional lessons are needed, the instructor will discuss this at the end of the lesson.

(Approximately 3 hours in length)
